The Jackson's have always had a deep love and connection to the coast as they both grew up along the South African coastline and is where they first met. It was only adequate to design their retiring home in a coastal design style, to make them feel like they are close to the ocean. The home was designed taking into consideration each of the Jackson's requirements according to their individual disabilities: Parkinson's and Wheelchair User.

This design style features natural materials with hints of blue tones, resulting in a design that has great use of line, contrasting textures and sophisticated beachy vibes. Through the use of colour and texture creates the allusion of sand, clouds and sea – additionally, the fun and feeling of peace experienced at the seaside has been created through the use of quirky design features.

Throughout the design it was important to take into consideration each of the client's needs based on their disabilities. Resulting in a design that heavily features handrails throughout each of the rooms, lots of seating within each space to provide pause areas for Mrs Jackson, lots of space and turning circles to help Mr Jackson navigate between different spaces, lots of low storage for easy access and higher spaces for display, the automation of the lights, curtains and blinds, wide doorways and push activated cabinets in the kitchen and certain rooms because of Mrs Jackson’s reduced grip.
